In the role of Substation Engineering Manager, we'll count on you to: 

  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers within a multi-discipline team throughout the full project lifecycle. 
  • Lead substation engineering teams-including P&C, Civil, Structural, and Physical-to ensure quality, coordination, and timely delivery of all design packages.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; participate in design and production meetings related to substation and electrical systems.
  • Serve as Electrical Engineering Manager on multiple projects, providing technical leadership and oversight.
  • Conduct design development and contract document work sessions in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Implement and enforce QA/QC processes across engineering disciplines; participate in code compliance reviews with governing agencies.
  • Manage project workload and coordinate team efforts to meet schedule and quality expectations.
  • Track technical progress and adjust team activities to align with project goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers; support technical development and consistency across the team.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Engineering
  • A Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation electrical design
  • Strong understanding of substation power systems, protection and control, and grounding design
  • Proficiency with power system analysis and design tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME), and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of substation physical layout, P&C, grounding, and major equipment specifications (e.g., power transformers, breakers, switches, and steel structures) is an asset
  • Previous experience with utilities or engineering consulting firm
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
