Program Facilitator

Organization: Spread the Word Nevada

Location: Northern Nevada

Reports To: Director of Northern Nevada

Employment Type: Part-Time

Pay: $16 - $17 per hour

Since 2001, Spread the Word Nevada has placed millions of books into the hands and homes of children in Nevada's most underserved communities - and we're growing our team to reach even more of them. Position Summary

The Program Facilitator assists with all aspects of preparing books for distribution, book cleanings, and off-site programming - from sorting and boxing books to leading reading events with kids and families across the community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate book cleaning events
  • Facilitate and lead off-site programs, including Breakfast/Snack Time with Books and Readers in Training
  • Interact with volunteers
  • Assist with community outreach by operating information tables at special events
  • Assist with book inventory and cycle counts
  • Assist with the incoming and outgoing processing of books
  • Assist with communication with School Liaisons
  • Box, sort, and count books for distribution
  • Complete monthly book deliveries to schools
  • Speak in front of groups of people
  • Other duties may be assigned at the Director of Northern Nevada's discretion, related to the fundamental aspects of the Program Facilitator role
What You'll NeedEducation and Experience
  • High school diploma required
  • Experience working with children and families preferred
Skills
  • Familiarity with children's literature a plus
  • Comfortable presenting and giving instructions to large groups
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva
  • Strong written and oral English communication
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
Logistics
  • Reliable personal vehicle, valid auto insurance, and a valid driver's license
  • Comfortable driving a company vehicle (van, truck)
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Compliance with the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy, as required for a position that could affect the safety of others

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role involves frequent standing and walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, reaching, climbing/balancing, and stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, plus talking and hearing. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and drive a vehicle. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work takes place in office, warehouse, and school settings. Employees are occasionally exposed to heat, wet, and/or humid outdoor conditions, and noise levels can be moderate to high at times.
