Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
The Sessional Instructor is responsible forplanning, preparing, delivering, and assessing a theoretically andpedagogically sound university course that aligns with the Faculty ofEducation's Bachelor of Education program and the course description. Theinstructor will create an engaging and inclusive learning environment thatmodels effective teaching practices for future educators.
Thesuccessful candidate will facilitate learning experiences that develop teachercandidates' understanding of the Ontario Health and Physical Educationcurriculum, including fundamental movement skills, active living, healthyliving, physical literacy, health literacy, inclusion, mental health, andmindfulness. The instructor will model evidence-informed instructionalstrategies and assessment practices that prepare teacher candidates to designsafe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences fordiverse elementary learners.
Workingcollaboratively with the B.Ed. Program Director, the Sessional Instructor willcontribute to a cohesive course experience through shared planning, ongoingcommunication, and consistent assessment practices. Responsibilities includepreparing and delivering course materials, assessing student work, providingtimely and constructive feedback, responding promptly to student inquiries, andsupporting teacher candidates' professional growth throughout the course.
