Job description

The Company

Liberty Mutual Investments manages Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s global investment portfolio across public and private markets, with more than $100 billion in assets under management. LMI combines the scale and stability of a global insurer with the agility of a sophisticated investment organization, investing across a broad range of asset classes to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns and support Liberty Mutual’s long-term financial strength.

As LMI advances its 2030 strategy, the firm is expanding its capabilities, scaling private markets, modernizing its operating platform and introducing new investment structures to support growth. Delivering on that strategy requires disciplined program execution, effective cross-functional coordination, and an operating model that can absorb increasing complexity without sacrificing speed or rigor.

The Opportunity

Program Management sits within GIS Strategy & Execution — the team that governs LMI’s most complex strategic programs, sustains the operating infrastructure that keeps Product, Data, and Technology teams moving, and partners across the enterprise to make execution rigorous and repeatable. Reporting to the Head of Program Management, you will work at the center of that effort.

You will own meaningful work from day one — running events that anchor the GIS delivery calendar, coordinating the operational cadence that connects investment and technology teams, and stepping into active programs as a developing Associate PM. Over time, you will build the business fluency, stakeholder relationships, and program management craft to take on a full PM role. The path is real and intentional.

What You’ll Do

Program Support

• Support Program Managers on active programs — stepping in during absences, owning discrete workstreams, and developing as an Associate PM on programs across the portfolio

• Contribute to program governance artifacts including roadmaps, milestones, risk logs, and stakeholder communications

• Partner with the Transformation team on process documentation and mapping work as program needs arise

• Support Strategic Initiative execution as initiatives move from planning into delivery

• Work closely with the Vendor Management team to improve how vendor management and procurement integrate into programs, ensuring the model runs smoothly from program inception through contract execution

Business Execution

• Own end-to-end planning and execution of quarterly PI Planning events and LMI Showcases, coordinating across teams to ensure events continue evolving to meet organizational needs

• Drive Product/Data/Tech coordination and communication across changes including squad metrics, Jira process changes, and the Agile Ways of Working maturity journey

• Mature Product Charter refresh and Roadmap review processes and tools in close partnership with Product Owners and technology teams

• Own Agile, product mindset, and related learning and training coordination for Product, Data, and Tech teams

• Maintain process library in partnership with the Transformation team

AI-Driven Execution

• Grow into role as the AI Champion for Strategy & Execution, promoting adoption and owning the operational tracking & discipline around how the team evolves our use of AI tools.

About the Team

Program Management is one of three practices within GIS Strategy & Execution at Liberty Mutual Investments, alongside Business Transformation and Vendor Management. We plan, govern, and drive the programs that translate LMI’s strategic priorities into operational reality, and we sustain the operating cadence that keeps Product, Data, and Technology teams moving effectively.

The team is small, experienced, and deeply embedded in LMI’s most consequential work — from scaling complex asset classes to standing up new investment structures to modernizing the technology platforms that power the firm. If you are energized by complex organizations, operational rigor, and the chance to grow into a program management career inside a sophisticated investment firm, we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, finance, or related)

• 3–5 years of experience in delivery/business execution preferably within investments; financial services experience a strong plus

• Familiarity with Agile ways of working and product operating models; direct experience with Agile teams a plus

• Experience in asset management, institutional investing, insurance investment management, or investment operations/financial services preferred; curiosity about and interest in developing fluency in LMI’s investment products, asset classes, and programs is essential

• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously

• Comfort operating with ambiguity and limited direction; this role requires independent judgment and initiative

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions and levels, including senior leaders and cross-functional partners

• Experience with and interest in how AI tools can improve the way teams work, and willingness to learn, try, and share.
