Controls Engineer

**Department: **Maintenance **Reports to: **Maintenance Manager **Shift: **B shift (5:15 PM โ€“ 5:15 AM) 2-2-3 schedule

About the Role

Provide technical expertise for programming, installation, and maintenance of new and existing manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot equipment issues, support production and skilled trades, and drive continuous improvement โ€” all with safety as top priority.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and repair electrical/controls issues; ensure operator safety devices function properly
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, ladder logic, and robot interfacing
  • Oversee equipment upgrades and programming changes; improve cycle times on robotic welding/assembly lines
  • Maintain documentation and train production/maintenance team members
  • Evaluate equipment and recommend upgrades or repairs
  • Partner with production, vendors, and contractors to resolve issues quickly
What You Need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2โ€“4 year Electrical Engineering degree (or related field) and/or 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience
  • Strong PLC programming and robot teach/programming skills
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and control wiring
  • Understanding of metal stamping, spot welding, and assembly processes
  • Good communication, organizational, and computer skills
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 40 lbs; bend, climb, stand, and walk as needed
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around electrical/environmental hazards
  • Able to work various plant locations and rotate shifts, including weekend overtime
