EMPLOYEE STATUS: Full Time (32-40 Hours/Week)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Design, implement, and coordinate an outdoor adventure and leadership after school program for middle and high school age youth. Follow the evidence-based Project Venture curriculum, work with Ignacio School District and other youth-serving, prevention-based organizations. This position is responsible for leading an evidence-based outdoor experiential program, outreach and recruitment, and supervising events including overnights. Must be able to create, participate, and lead youth in a variety of activities including but not limited to: character development, team building games, outdoor adventure activities, art projects, service learning, and meaningful dialog and reflection. Provide adequate supervision to youth participants through safety procedures, discipline, and mature decision making. Collect, analyze, and report data regarding attendance, behavior, perceptions, and achievements of participating youth. Represent Ignacio Youth Services through positive lifestyles and act as a role model to local youth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and implement after school programs with an emphasis on the NIYLP curriculum, social emotional learning, and service learning.
2. Recruit for programming using a variety of approaches.
3. Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, community partners, and youth participants.
4. Through regularly scheduled meetings report to and maintain regular communication with the youth services team regarding:
a. Reports
b. Personal and professional schedule
c. Programming and program development
d. Assigned tasks and follow through
e. Other areas/concerns as they arise and as requested by the youth services team.
5. Consult and seek approval from the youth services team for decisions involving:
a. Administrative duties (i.e. purchasing, contracts, etc.)
b. Programmatic changes outside of predetermined operating plans (i.e. changes in program calendars, objectives, cancellations, program ideas outside of contracted work plan objectives, etc.)
c. Logistical planning and coordination with community partners (i.e. scheduling events, using or providing resources, etc.)
d. Other areas/concerns as they arise and as requested by the youth services team
6. Supervise participants and assure adherence to program policies.
7. Responsible for delivery and overall safety of programming and participants.
8. Facilitate lessons, team building games, and activities according to predetermined plans.
9. Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. If unable to complete tasks in a timely manner communicate said shortcomings with the youth services team, and associated parties, with a follow up timeline.
10. Maintain, regularly monitor, and respond to all forms of common “work-place” communication including phone calls, texts, email, and in-person communication.
11. With program staff coordinate Club Venture programming:
a. Schedule, plan, and facilitate events and activities according to grant objectives
b. Recruit youth participants
c. Create flyers, permission forms and other relevant paperwork
12. Create, collect, and confirm possession of all registration/permission-form paperwork for youth participants before attendance in any activity.
13. Submit receipts with appropriate detail on a weekly basis.
14. Monitor behavior, attendance, and participation of youth.
15. Enter attendance into the member tracking system on a weekly basis.
16. Prepare for, attend, and contribute to all required meetings and individual check-ins.
17. According to grant objectives, collect and analyze necessary data to ensure/improve program fidelity.
18. Actively participate in program activities.
19. Provide an encouraging, positive atmosphere for youth participants.
20. Support and recommend healthy lifestyles and choices of the youth participants.
21. Assist in the development, coordination and implementation of a variety of youth activities sponsored by SoCoCAA and/or other youth serving organizations.
22. Perform other related job-duties as assigned.
23. Seek additional funding and other resources to support effective programs, including helping with the organization’s fundraising efforts, identifying and preparing/writing grant applications, and securing contracts or funding agreements with program partners.
24. Attend training or conferences as needed or requested by contracts. This includes out of town travel.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. With Youth Services staff, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations for the safety and positive experience of youth.
2. Develop and monitor timelines, priorities and standards for achieving program goals.
3. Seek, share and attend appropriate training opportunities, including cross training in tasks assigned to other team members, to increase program quality as well as the skill and independence of team members.
4. Meet program goals and objectives within established timelines and budgets to provide accountability to funders and participants.
5. Assist in the preparation budgets for funding applications in collaboration with the SoCoCAA Programs Developer.
6. Assist in the revision budgets, when necessary, appropriate and allowed by contracts.
7. Collect and review data and information about the target population (youth, ages 12-18) and the community. Present and discuss data with staff regularly.
8. Assist in evaluation design and data collection, including sign-in sheets, activity attendance reports, surveys, etc.
9. Develop and maintain a system for collecting pre- and post-program questionnaires while maintaining confidentiality of responses.
10. Ensure data is entered and available for submission to evaluation partners and funding sources when required.
11. Participate in state or national evaluation by collecting and submitting program data.
12. Manage contracted evaluators to make sure the proper evaluations are being made.
13. Maintain awareness of programs and activities occurring in the community but implemented by non-SoCoCAA programs (schools, Tribe, other agencies in the county).
14. Develop and maintain working relationships with the administrators and staff of those agencies, schools, local government, other youth service organizations, etc.
15. Coordinate activities with schools, tribal departments and other agencies serving the same target population.
16. Develop and monitor subcontracts when necessary to complete program and contract objectives.
17. Manage contracts between SoCoCAA and other partnering organizations and ensure any invoices are delivered or paid in a timely manner.
18. Prepare and submit reports as required by contract.

? Experience and/or education working with middle school and/or high school age youth, in a variety of environments (academic, recreational, therapeutic, etc.)
? Minimum of a High School diploma (or the equivalent).
? Ability to work days, evenings, weekends (most Saturdays), and overnights as assigned.
? Must pass criminal history and child abuse/neglect background checks.
? Must have reliable transportation, a valid Colorado Driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and be eligible for coverage under SoCoCAA’S vehicle insurance policy.
? Must have, or obtain upon hire, a current CPR/First Aid certification card.
