S:US Is seeking a Supervisor of Social Services for their families with children shelters in the Bronx. 

This position is located at  Echo Place Bronx, NY 10457 

 
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9a-5p, with flexibility and on-call.

Scope of role:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Supervisor of Social Services is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the clinical unit, which includes case managers, vocational case manager and housing specialist. The supervisor is responsible for the coordination of client services, developing and implementing policies and procedures, establishing goals and objectives and working closely with Program Director in planning, implementing and monitoring HRA and other funding/licensing agency services. The supervisor of social services actively promotes staff development and team building.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS


Effective Communication: Ability to convey information, as appropriate, to all individuals, including
supervisor, staff and co-workers. Uses clear, concise language to provide timely and accurate written
and oral communication.


Critical Thinking: Ability to drive improvements, ranging from incremental enhancements to major
shifts in direction. Anticipates change and makes the necessary adjustments to drive lasting
improvements and long-term results.


Flexibility: Demonstrates an openness to new situations, adapts to changing circumstances and adjusts
approaches and responses to address change related challenges.


Innovation: Develops new ways of doing things, questions conventional approaches and implements
unique techniques. Encourages and promotes the exploration of new ideas and creative thinking
amongst team members.


Role Model: Helps to shape the vision of the shelter by working with the multidisciplinary team to
accomplish nutritional objectives.


Teamwork: Ability to lead and direct a cohesive team


  • LCSW Required (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major in social work 
  • Three years supervisory/managerial experience
  • Work experience in the fields of mental health, child welfare, child development, or other related fields.
  • Strong working knowledge of psychodynamics, group work, case work, health systems and human and child development.
  • Experience working with trauma and understand Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as trauma informed care.
  • Must have ability to supervise staff and promote team building, good problem-solving skills, good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • English/Spanish speaking preferred
