Job description

Position Summary

The Development and Food Drive Intern at St. Marys Food Bank is responsible for providing administrative and general support to the St. Marys Corporate Giving team. The role provides the intern opportunities to gain experience in and familiarity with areas such as project management, fundraising, community outreach, and day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization. The Development and Food Drive intern will report to the Food Drive Coordinator and will support the Corporate Giving team.

Essential Functions

  • Work with food drive coordinator to complete registration forms as they come in
  • Schedule delivery and pick up of boxes/donations
  • Generate food, water and fund drive thank you certificates
  • Attend offsite events on behalf of St. Marys as necessary including the Saturday before Thanksgiving
  • Assist with the holiday meal distribution program leading up to Thanksgiving
  • Assist the food drive coordinator in entering data into NetSuite, St. Marys food donor database
  • Responsible for photography for check presentations and other marketing related requests
  • Communicate with food drive donors as needed
  • Lapsed food drive projects as needed
  • Perform data clean-up projects as assigned
  • Engage with food drive donors and volunteers
  • Any other duties assigned by the team

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all internal/external customers of St. Marys Food Bank with an excellent service experience.

Scope and Complexity

May interact with all levels of leadership, employees, food and fund drive donors, community neighbors, volunteers, and external vendors.

Physical Demands/Environment Factors

  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • May require off-site events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be working towards a bachelors degree from an accredited college or University
  • Interest in the fields of community outreach, program management, and nonprofit management
  • Able to commit to approximately 20 hours a week, Monday- Friday
  • Able to commit to working one Saturday
  • Strong organization skills, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel), email and calendaring applications.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to St. Marys Food Bank mission and values

This internship will pay $18/hr.
