Job description


I. Job Summary
Leads, guides and influences Area Collection Director activities and performance of financial results and productivity of multiple Operating Units. Ensures that Operating Units meet or exceed annual objectives and successfully implement organizational initiatives. Provides field leadership and support for standardizing operating practices and driving operations improvement.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Works with the Market Area General Managers, Area Collection Directors, Area Optimization Directors, Area Fleet Directors, Area Dispatch Managers, Operations Improvement Managers, Area Logistics Experts, District Managers, Fleet Managers & Operations Manager to effectively drive performance improvement opportunities.
  • Supports analysis and reviews of the day-to-day operations of the District.
  • Provides daily support to Management Teams to understand how to use tools and processes in relation to the SOP's
  • Leads review of asset allocation to ensure appropriate spare ratios, capital efficiency and asset disposal, when necessary.
  • Partners with Corporate Operations & Optimization with proactive reviews and assignments.
  • Promotes understanding and partnership of formulated action plans for front line management in conjunction with the Area Leadership Team and District Managers.
  • Participates and supports regular P&L progress reviews to ensure that budgets are met with emphasis on Revenue, Revenue Reduction, Route Profitability, Customer profitability, Labor Costs and Maintenance Costs.
  • Collaborates with Area and Corporate operations & Optimization and sales management to implement and manage programs such as NDO, eRL, WM Way, as needed.
  • Serves as operations advisor to Corporate leadership.
  • Provides direct support and leadership in the event of a natural disaster, labor issue or as requested.
  • Provides Operations support and consultation to Group SVP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


III. Qualifications 
A. Required Qualifications 
 

  • 12+ years previous experience in the waste, environmental services, energy or transportation industry.


B. Preferred Qualifications 
 

  • Bachelor's Degree (Accredited)
