Job Overview
The Spirituality Center Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and daily operations of programs and services that reflect the mission of the Sisters of Charity. This role helps create a welcoming environment for spiritual growth by organizing retreats, coordinating program logistics, supporting volunteers and guests, and working collaboratively with Sisters and leadership to ensure the Center remains a space for reflection and community
Duties and Responsibilities
Mission and Core Values
- Promote a campus-wide philosophy that aligns with the mission and core values of the Sisters of Charity.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Provides leadership and direction for Spirituality Center programs and initiatives in alignment with the mission and values of the Sisters of Charity.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and support programs, retreats, and events.
- Fosters a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-centered environment for participants, guests, and collaborators.
- Act as a liaison with management and team for educational programs, volunteers, student workers and interns within the facility.
- Work with inter-generational volunteers, interns, student workers and others.
Spirituality Center Operations
- Plan, develop, and evaluate programs, retreats, and spiritual initiatives that reflect the mission and values of the Sisters of Charity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Sisters, retreat leaders, presenters, guests, and community organizations.
- Promote the Center’s programs and offerings through effective communication, marketing, and outreach initiatives.
- Ensure the Center provides a place of hospitality, respect, spiritual care, and peaceful reflection for all visitors.
- Work closely with Sisters of Charity leadership to align Center activities with organizational goals and broader strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate programming by identifying, scheduling, and working with retreat directors, presenters, and facilitators; may provide support for program delivery as appropriate.
- Collaborate with Spiritual Directors and other users of the Center to support effective use of shared space.
- Support programs during evenings and weekends as required based on program schedules and offerings.
Policy Procedure & Compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information (HIPAA) and respect and adhere to all resident rights.Â
- Complete all assigned documents and mandatory training by specified deadlines.
- Remain current on applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.
- Proactive in the development, maintenance, and updating of policies and procedures governing day-to-day departmental functions and services.
- Prepares and administers departmental budget, maintains fiscal compliance and adjusts expenditures to ensure budgetary targets are met. Processes billing and invoices.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and best practices for retreat and hospitality management.
Professional Development
- Attend and participate in all in-services, training sessions, and staff meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a healthcare and residential campus setting that may require exposure to varying temperatures, cleaning agents, and occasional noise.
- All employees must be able to perform the essential functions of their position with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and other movements consistent with a healthcare and residential work environment.
Skills and Qualifications
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in theology or related fieldÂ
Preferred
- Master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, spirituality, or a related field.
- Formal training or certification in spiritual direction.
Licensure/Certification:
Required
Preferred
- Certification or training in spiritual direction or related ministry preferred.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
Required
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse groups.
- Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to coordinate, collaborate, and build effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in technology and standard computer applications.
Preferred
- Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in developing and supporting spiritual programs and retreat experiences.
- Ability to integrate spirituality, reflection, and mission into programming and interactions.
Kind and Length of Experience:
Required
- 5+ years of progressive administrative and leadership experience, in a mission-driven or service-oriented environment.
- Experience in ministry, faith-based organizations, or related settings.
- Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and leading retreats, programs, or similar initiatives.
Preferred
- Experience working in a retreat center environment.
- Experience as a spiritual director.
- Experience in Catholic ministry settings.
- Experience participating in and/or leading retreats.
