Release Train Engineer (RTE) / Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) SME

Role
This role is for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) / Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) SME. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) / Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) SME will keep the work of multiple teams on a battle rhythm to ensure value delivery is aligned with our government customer’s vision. The RTE/SAFe SME will also coach on connecting strategy to execution and adopting an Agile mindset, and further promote Agility, SAFe, and Scrum to the entire effort.
This is a hybrid position. You will have the opportunity to split time between working remotely and working in a secure facility in NoVA just outside DC.
Responsibilities
  • The RTE will provide SAFe SME support, implementing SAFe by implementing a Lean-Agile Framework
  • Guide and lead the ART, and the teams through the delivery of software and services, while adopting and promoting the Agile attitude
  • Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to define the mission value and prioritize work to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Establish team level cadences and ceremonies in collaboration with our customers
  • Partner with Product Management/Owners to drive the definition and refinement of the program backlog
  • Establish and continuously improve an efficient delivery ecosystem while maintaining required governance processes
  • Facilitate consensus and decision-making with vendors and customers
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to peers, and team members
  • Maintain metrics that provide access to team members on program-level plans, progress and quality
  • Facilitate coordination and dependency alignment between the program team and third parties, release managers, or between the team and other Scrum Teams
  • Establish and manage Risk and Quality for agile program
  • Foster a team collaborative environment that tears down silos between groups – act in a single voice
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team to advance their skills and career
  • Work cross functionally to align strategy, methodology and execution
  • Be a change agent and foster a “learn by doing” environment
  • Serve as a partner for impediment removal for the Scrum Masters and scrum teams
  • Communication and engagement at multiple levels with both internal and external partners
  • Management of matrix resources who may or may not be within a direct reporting structure
  • Actively contribute to the company’s Agile and Lean Community through participation in the internal Agile Community of Practice
Required Qualifications
  • Must possess a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline and at least ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Local to the DC Metro Area
  • Experience executing Program Increments
  • Experience facilitating Program Increment Planning sessions, Scrum of Scrums, business owner syncs, and system-of-system demos
  • Experience coaching teams to execute and release value through Agile Release Trains
  • Experience working with government or business leaders to build an Agile portfolio with Lean-Agile budgeting
  • Ability to work with all roles and levels in the organization to continually optimize operational value streams and development value streams
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in applying SAFe to scale Lean and Agile development in the enterprise
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in applying Lean-Agile Mindset and principles
  • Comfortable in a high-trust, adaptable, team environment
