The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Assistant Research Director, Compensation Research to join our Compensation Research team. In this role, you will analyze financial services industry data, support benchmarking studies, and deliver insights that help financial services organizations understand compensation trends, competitive practices, and workforce shifts. You will design and manage research projects of moderate complexity, enhance data accuracy, and contribute your subject matter expertise to internal and client facing initiatives.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop research project designs for compensation-focused studies.
  • Manage well-defined research project plans, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Execute accurate data cleaning techniques with minimal supervision.
  • Build and maintain custom data validation checks for assigned studies.
  • Analyze moderately complex datasets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Validate findings against external metrics, trends, and industry benchmarks.
  • Provide implications and insights for key audiences.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for compensation-related research.
  • Mentor junior researchers to expand their understanding of compensation research.
  • Review and advise on research project plans and study designs.
  • Improve reporting formats for historic compensation studies.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Co-author or lead development of member-facing deliverables.
  • Work closely with Research Data Analysts to support the development of Compensation Research
  • Engage with members, partners, and internal teams using a variety of communication methods.
  • Collaborate closely with the Industry Solutions Product Manager and other internal groups.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • 5+ years' compensation-related experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in research and/or data analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of compensation practices in insurance and financial services.
  • Strong understanding of industry factors such as regulatory changes, economic impacts, and competitive dynamics.
  • Solid skills in data management, data cleaning, and data validation.
  • Proficiency in trending analysis and interpretation of survey data across cycles.
  • Strong communication skills-including the ability to write clearly, structure insights logically, and tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, manage tight deadlines, and assess project risks.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
