Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Lead, Clinical Research.
In this role, the successful candidate The Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI), Clinical Research Centers (CRC) is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our institution as a Program Lead (PL) reporting to the Executive Director of Clinical Research Operations. The Program Lead will oversee all start-up operations across five clinical research centers, ensuring fast and efficient activation. The PL is responsible for the development, coordination, and negotiation of clinical trial budgets, preparing cost assessments for industry and non-industry sponsored clinical trials, and ensuring that all budgeting activities comply with institutional policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations. The PL will work closely with principal investigators, departmental research teams, the Office of Science and Research (OSR) units of budgeting, contracts, sponsored programs, billing compliance, and the IRB and the CTSI clinical research center teams. The position also requires regular contact with sponsors, collaborating institutions, and federal agencies in negotiating budgets. The role requires expertise in project management, budgeting, and regulatory affairs.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Study Start-Up and Clinical Trial Budgeting
    • Provides strategic and operational leadership for end-to-end study start-up and activation activities across the CTSI Clinical Research Centers portfolio, including protocol intake, feasibility review, operational assessments, budget development, regulatory coordination, and activation readiness.
    • Oversees the development and implementation of standardized center-wide start-up workflows, SOPs, operational dashboards, escalation pathways, and performance metrics to improve study activation timelines and operational efficiency.
    • Leads centralized clinical trial budgeting operations for industry-, foundation-, and federally sponsored research studies, including development of comprehensive internal budgets, prospective reimbursement analyses, coverage analyses, and research billing grids.
    • Collaborates with investigators, departmental leadership, OSR units, contracts, sponsored programs, billing compliance, IRB, finance offices, and institutional service providers to ensure alignment across contractual, operational, financial, and regulatory timelines.
    • Oversees development and maintenance of institutional fee schedules and research service pricing methodologies to support sustainable clinical research operations.
    • Partners with executive leadership to identify operational risks, financial gaps, and process improvement opportunities related to study activation and clinical research center financial infrastructure.
    • Supports strategic initiatives focused on research growth, operational scalability, financial sustainability, and optimization of clinical trial activation performance throughout the clinical research centers to ensure appropriate pricing of clinical research procedures.

  1. Reporting, Communication, & Collaboration
  • Develops and delivers executive-level operational, financial, and performance reports for CTSI leadership, investigators, institutional stakeholders, and external sponsors.
  • Maintains strong collaborative relationships with investigators, research administrators, finance teams, compliance offices, and institutional leadership to facilitate efficient and compliant study activation.
  • Represents CTSI clinical research centers on institutional committees, operational workgroups, and strategic initiatives related to clinical research administration and research operations.
  • Participates in institutional planning activities focused on research process optimization, financial stewardship, and operational innovation.
  • Performs additional duties and strategic initiatives as assigned in support of CTSI and institutional research operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field. Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible related experience coordinating clinical/research trials studies Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Master's degree or above in public health or research
o 5-10 years experience in clinical research administration and budgeting
o Direct experience in financial planning of clinical trials (strongly preferred)
o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver consistently high-quality outputs on time.
o Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
o Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
o Computer literacy required with proficiency of basic Microsoft Office software applications.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.93 - $101,223.89 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
