Boutique civil defense litigation firm seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary with paralegal experience or certification preferred. Our firm handles a variety of civil defense matters and prides itself on professionalism, teamwork, strong client relationships, and high-quality legal work.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a litigation environment, enjoys supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation, and is proactive in keeping cases organized and moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, revise, and finalize pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • File and serve documents in California state and federal courts
  • Maintain litigation calendars and monitor court deadlines
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and client communications
  • Draft shells/templates for pleadings and discovery
  • Assist with discovery, including preparing responses, organizing records, and managing document production
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court staff
  • Maintain electronic and physical case files
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and case management

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience preferred
  • Experience with California civil procedure and court filing systems
  • Strong knowledge of litigation calendaring and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe, and case management software
  • Paralegal certificate or ABA-approved paralegal program preferred, but not required
