Description

Position Overview:

Detroit Defense is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to support DoD programs by reviewing technical documentation, evaluating platform configurations, and supporting the integration of complex shipboard systems. This role works closely with engineering, program management, and government stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are accurately interpreted and successfully implemented throughout the system lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and system modification packages to support platform integration activities. 

Evaluate technical requirements and coordinate implementation efforts with engineering and program teams. 

Support the planning and execution of platform modifications and system integration activities. 

Collaborate with government and contractor stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure successful implementation of engineering changes. 

Review system configurations and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program requirements. 

Support configuration management and maintain technical records throughout the program lifecycle. 

Participate in technical meetings and provide recommendations regarding platform integration and engineering solutions. 

Assist with risk identification, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement initiatives. 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Five (5) or more years of experience reviewing and interpreting technical engineering documentation, modification packages, or system alteration documentation supporting complex technical programs. 

Experience analyzing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements. 

Ability to communicate technical information to multidisciplinary teams. 

Active DoD security clearance (level commensurate with program requirements). 


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or other government technical programs. 

Experience with shipboard fiber optic cable plants, including conventional and blown fiber optic systems. 

Familiarity with commercial and military fiber optic components and infrastructure. 

Experience with Individual Platform GFI Management Plans. 

Knowledge of shipboard support services, including electrical power, cooling, and related infrastructure. 

Experience supporting platform integration, configuration management, or systems engineering activities. 

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills.
