Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

About the Team & Role

The Oversight Project and Portfolio Management (Oversight PPM) team focuses on strengthening the Reserve Bank Operations & Payment Systems (RBOPS) division's overall processes for oversight through business process improvement, fostering and sharing best practices for product, program, and project management, and supporting the division's newly established Oversight Steering Committee that is charged with shaping the division's broad oversight strategy. The team continues to develop and evolve the division's oversight program to provide a holistic view of Reserve Bank operations, appropriately focused on the most important current and emerging risks. Staff continue to refine and implement division-wide oversight planning processes that provide a comprehensive multi-year view of oversight activities and demonstrate that key risks are addressed.


As the Oversight PPM intern, you will assist with updating issues related to reviews and updating dashboards to illustrate oversight activities and analyze data to identify trends or risks. You will research program, product, project, and portfolio management best practices to improve our library of resources. This you will also help create a section newsletter.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current student, graduating from their program May 2027 or later. Proof of enrollment will be required.
  • Available to start this summer full-time (40 hrs/wk) and continue into the 2026-27 academic year (approx. 10-15 hrs/week), with regular on-site presence at our offices in Downtown Washington, D.C.
