We're looking for an energetic, organized, and outgoing Volleyball Recreation Assistant to help support our volleyball programming and ensure leagues, tournaments, and daily operations run smoothly.

Position Summary
The Volleyball Recreation Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of The Sandbox's volleyball programming. This position helps coordinate leagues, tournaments, open play, memberships, and special events while delivering an exceptional experience for players, members, and guests. You'll work closely with the Sports Programming team to keep events organized, courts running on schedule, and guests engaged from check-in to the final match.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of volleyball leagues, tournaments, clinics, and special events.
  • Welcome players, members, and guests while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Manage player check-in and assist with league registrations.
  • Monitor courts to keep matches running on schedule.
  • Assist officials, scorekeepers, and league coordinators throughout events.
  • Maintain volleyball equipment, nets, scoreboards, and court supplies.
  • Ensure courts and common areas remain clean, organized, and guest-ready.
  • Answer questions regarding leagues, tournaments, memberships, events, and facility amenities.
  • Assist with court scheduling and daily programming.
  • Support corporate events, private parties, social tournaments, and special promotions.
  • Encourage participation in leagues, tournaments, memberships, and other Sandbox programs.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Sports Program Director.
Qualifications
  • Passion for volleyball, sports, recreation, or hospitality.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Friendly, energetic, and team-oriented personality.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during busy events.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 40 pounds, and remain active throughout a shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience playing, coaching, or officiating volleyball.
  • Experience working with recreational leagues, tournaments, or sports programming.
  • Experience in hospitality, entertainment, or event operations.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred but not required).
  • Experience using sports management or scheduling software is a plus.
