Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fundraising & Community Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for leading the Centre of Hope's fundraising, donor stewardship, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and marketing initiatives. This position develops and implements fundraising campaigns, coordinates special events, manages communications and social media, and builds meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, businesses, churches, and community organizations to increase awareness and financial support for the Centre's mission.

Working closely with the Director, this role supports the long-term sustainability of the Centre through strategic fundraising, community engagement, and effective communications.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:

Fundraising & Community Partnerships

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement annual fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, businesses, churches, service clubs, and community organizations.
  • Identify new fundraising, sponsorship, grant, and partnership opportunities.
  • Steward donors through thank-you calls, correspondence, and recognition.
  • Maintain donor records and prepare fundraising reports.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and manage social media content using Canva, AI tools, and other digital platforms.
  • Create newsletters, fundraising appeals, brochures, promotional materials, and annual reports.
  • Maintain and update the Centre of Hope website.
  • Promote fundraising campaigns, events, volunteer opportunities, and Centre programs through various communication channels.

Events & Volunteer Engagement

  • Coordinate fundraising events and community engagement activities.
  • Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers for fundraising initiatives and special events.
  • Represent the Centre of Hope at community events and speaking engagements.
  • Support the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign through volunteer recruitment, promotions, and community engagement.

General Responsibilities

  • Monitor fundraising trends and recommend opportunities to increase community support.
  • Support the mission and values of The Salvation Army in all aspects of the role.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in fundraising, communications, event planning, marketing, donor relations, community engagement, or nonprofit administration.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and donor stewardship.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, AI-assisted content creation tools, and social media platforms.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Self-motivated, creative, professional, and able to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with donor databases, email marketing platforms, and website content management systems.
  • Grant writing, corporate sponsorship, photography, videography, or graphic design experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to The Salvation Army's mission and values.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Hours of Work

  • 32-40 hours per week.
  • Evening and weekend work is required for fundraising events, presentations, and community activities.
  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, are required during the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign (November and December).

This is a one year contract position.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $50,897.60 to $63,627.20 with a maximum of $76,356.80.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
