Job description

Job Title: Data Analyst
Salary Range: $55,604-$102,600(Commensurate with experience)
Supervisor: Director of Accountability
Job Classification: Exempt
Contract Length: 12-months (260 days)
Job Summary
The Data Analyst provides data requirements associated with federal and state accountability and supports departments across the school division in evaluating educational programs. This role involves acquiring, managing, analyzing, and reporting educational data to assist with informed decision-making. The Data Analyst will also provide technical assistance on the retrieval, visualization, and storage of student data.
Essential Job Functions







  • Collect, compile, analyze, and report data (e.g., enrollment, course grades, federal/state accountability, assessments, teacher-level variables, historical and standardized data).
  • Query and extract data to address specific requests identified by the Department of Planning, Innovation, and Accountability (PIA).
  • Create and manage data repositories to house extracted data from multiple sources.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau (or comparable tools such as Power BI, Google Data Studio, or Looker) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Build user-friendly reports and data tools that support central office departments and schools.
  • Support PIA staff in creating custom student data extractions for reporting requirements.
  • Develop and monitor protocols to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist the educational data specialist with data requests.
  • Play a critical role in supporting the local assessment program.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required)

  • Knowledge of relational database theory, design, and management.
  • Proficiency in data extraction, cleaning, and analysis, including advanced use of Access, Excel, Query Analyzer, and SQL (T-SQL stored procedures) (preferred).
  • Experience designing and implementing data dashboards and visual reports in Tableau (preferred) or other visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS) and educational data systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings in clear, actionable terms.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of educational practices as applied to data extraction, manipulation, analysis, visualization, and reporting.


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in  degree or certification in computer science, data analytics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience or a combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience designing Tableau dashboards or comparable data visualization solutions. Demonstrated experience designing Tableau dashboards or comparable data visualization solutions preferred
  • Certification and License: Valid driver's license. Certifications in Tableau, Power BI, or related business intelligence tools preferred
