Job description

Program Director, Participant Engagement

The Director of Participant Engagement must uphold The Foundryโ€™s mission, vision, and core values, sign The Foundryโ€™s Statement of Faith, and report directly to the Chief Program Officer. The Director leads strategic engagement throughout the recovery journey, from initial inquiry to alumni involvement, overseeing intake, transitions, aftercare, alumni engagement, referral development, outcome measurement, and longโ€‘term recovery support. The Director supervises the Intake Manager and Participant Engagement Managers and collaborates with ministry leaders to strengthen participant success and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities Leadership and Department Management
  • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and develop assigned staff.
  • Ensure services operate in compliance with ministry policies, standards of care, participant guidelines, and applicable regulations.
  • Evaluate departmental effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Chief Program Officer with staffing, budgeting, strategic planning, and outcome improvement efforts.
Participant Engagement and Recovery Support
  • Coordinate ministryโ€‘wide intake, participant transitions, restoration, graduation, aftercare, alumni engagement, and reโ€‘engagement to provide a seamless continuum of care.
  • Ensure participants experience a professional, welcoming, traumaโ€‘informed, and Christโ€‘centered recovery environment while monitoring admissions, transitions, service utilization, and engagement across all care phases.
  • Implement and maintain progressโ€‘based aftercare programming, including The Life Plan, Aftercare Track, Circle of Care, digital engagement, virtual support groups, and other longโ€‘term recovery initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain systems that strengthen alumni engagement, mentoring, reโ€‘engagement, recovery support, and lifelong connection, including alumni gatherings, homecoming activities, recognition events, and other engagement initiatives.
Referral Development and Community Partnerships
  • Develop, cultivate, and steward strategic referral sources, community partnerships, and stakeholder relationships that strengthen participant recruitment, admissions, occupancy, and longโ€‘term program sustainability.
  • Represent The Foundry Ministries professionally with churches, employers, courts, treatment providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders while identifying new collaborative opportunities throughout Alabama and surrounding states.
Outcomes, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate participant outcome measurement systems and followโ€‘up processes that support longโ€‘term engagement, organizational learning, and meaningful reporting of participant outcomes.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report participant outcomes related to recovery capital, selfโ€‘sufficiency, housing stability, employment, human flourishing, spiritual engagement, healthy relationships, and quality of life while identifying trends, service gaps, and opportunities for continuous program improvement.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance of participant data, documentation, reporting systems, and departmental operations.
Campus Life and Special Initiatives
  • Assist the Chief Program Officer and Program Directors with development, coordination, and evaluation of campusโ€‘life activities, participant engagement initiatives, alumni activities, special events, and interโ€‘departmental projects that enrich the recovery experience.
  • Assist the Chief Program Officer and Program Directors with implementation of innovative practices that improve participant engagement, retention, recovery support, alumni involvement, and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor's degree required.
  • One to three years of supervisory and management experience.
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification or equivalent lived experience recommended.
  • Knowledge of pastoral/clinical counseling, social services/case management, employment readiness/job placement, advocacy/community engagement, and recovery services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of disadvantaged populations.
  • Approved by The Foundryโ€™s insurance carrier to operate a ministry vehicle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or MAC applications, Google Docs, client management software, and Grammarly software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to deโ€‘escalate and resolve conflicts.
  • Servant leader and collaborative leader.
  • Can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent email and calendar management.
  • Quick learner who enjoys the challenge of taking on new assignments.
