Job description

This leader will play a central role in shaping and executing Inova's community health strategy by overseeing community health needs assessments, building strong partnerships with nonprofit and community organizations, and serving as an Inova representative at community events and engagements. The Director will connect community-identified needs with actionable programs, partnerships and long-term strategies that improve access, outcomes and trust.
A major focus of this role is leading the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process conducted every three years. This includes gathering, analyzing and synthesizing data from county, regional and state sources; translating findings into a clear, compelling assessment; and helping drive implementation strategies that address identified priorities.
This position also serves as a visible ambassador for Inova in the community, cultivating relationships with nonprofits, schools and other partners, leading collaborative committees, and helping position Inova as an anchor institution committed to improving community health.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of Inova's Community Health Needs Assessment every three years, including data collection, analysis, writing and presentation of findings.
  • Gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data from multiple county, regional and state sources to identify community health priorities, disparities and opportunities.
  • Translate assessment findings into actionable community health strategies, implementation plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the work required to move from assessment to action, ensuring priorities are operationalized and advanced across programs and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, community groups and other external stakeholders.
  • Represent Inova at community meetings, events and partnership forums as a trusted and visible leader.
  • Lead the Community Action Committee and facilitate cross-sector collaboration around community health priorities.
  • Oversee key community initiatives, including programs focused on expanding access and connecting underserved youth and families to healthcare opportunities.
  • Lead and support initiatives such as Dream Big and related school/community partnership efforts.
  • Promote Inova's community health strategies and programs internally and externally.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • 2 years of healthcare management or related leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading or supporting a Community Health Needs Assessment
  • Strong data analytics skills, including the ability to synthesize data from multiple public, community and healthcare sources
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, nonprofits, schools and public-sector partners and demonstrated success building partnerships and representing an organization in the community
