Job description

Position: Business Development Manager

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our High Speed Backplane team. The position will be located in Santa Clara, CA.

This role is responsible for early-stage customer engagement, supporting customer system design activities, and serving as a trusted consultant for high-speed backplane product needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and develop New Business Opportunities (New business funnel creation and growth)
  • Drive early-stage customer engagement and support system-level design-in activities
  • Work closely with Sales and FAE teams to convert opportunities into revenue
  • Understand customer roadmaps and align product positioning accordingly
  • Lead competitive analysis and identify market trends for strategic input
  • Support product line manager for pricing strategy and commercial positioning for key opportunities
  • Coordinate with product engineering, and operations teams to ensure feasibility and alignment
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and ecosystem partners
  • Support key programs from concept stage through design win and ramp-up

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field (MBA is a plus)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in business development, product marketing, FAE, or sales engineering in high-speed interconnect or related industries
  • Strong experience in early customer engagement and system-level design-in support
  • Solid understanding of high-speed backplane, connector, or data center hardware applications
  • Proven ability to act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and influence design decisions
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills (engineering, product manager, sales, and operations)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with AI infrastructure, servers, or OCP ecosystems is highly preferred
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to translate customer needs into product requirements
  • Self-driven, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment

The base salary range for this position is $100,750 – $188,750. In determining rate of pay, Amphenol considers a variety of nondiscriminatory factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant industry experience, qualifications, skills, and education. It would be rare for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a given role. Base salary is one facet of Amphenol’s total rewards package which includes participation in our comprehensive benefits program with medical, dental, and vision benefits effective day 1, vacation, sick leave, personal days, paid holidays, life insurance, short/long term disability, and matching 401K.
