GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In this challenging role, you will be supporting the FNA - Financial Aid department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (MVP Specialty): Assist in the capacity of Financial Aid & Veteran's Financial Services Advisor.
-Provide support to eligible veterans and dependents regarding the utilization of their benefits while maintaining confidentiality.
-Coordinate the orientation and processing of Chapter 33 and Chapter 31 for Federal Vocational Rehabilitation students including monitoring the bookstore voucher system.
-Performs data analysis and necessary updates to student data based on reports generated in a timely manner
-Prepares for, provides, and regularly maintains accurate data and records in preparation for internal and external audit
Establishes policies and procedures in conjunction with institutional management. Advises and counsels students in financial aid, admissions, registration, housing, academic, vocational and related areas. Develops long-range plans and objectives for assigned student services program area(s). Assists in the development and monitoring of all budgetary matters for assigned student services program area(s). Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community. Ability to provide supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concerns. Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel. Ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
Plays an integral role with high level processes: Running of, reviewing of, troubleshooting and fixing errors related to. Consistently find ways to improve efficiency and automation of MVP programs. This includes utilizing technology and manipulating data for informed decision making while tracking desired metrics to evaluate effectiveness of a given process/program. In addition, this role has a significant level of involvement and requires a harmonious collaboration with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to ensure suggested changes and processes are implemented logically and successfully while taking into consideration student and internal processing ease-of-use.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
-Assist with both direct and indirect customer service. Counsels and responds to student inquiries in person, via email correspondence, and by phone/switchboard in accordance with the Financial Aid office's determined time frames. Emphasis is placed on assisting recipients with applications for benefits and counseling for eligibility. Reviews application to determine and counsel on required steps for admittance, registration, and Financial Services.
-Provides guidance to students, staff, and public relating to the FA & VA, application and enrollment processes.
Seeks to improve the services offered to GTC Service Members population by organizing and participating in activities both on and off campus.
Prepare and conduct presentations, workshops and outreach: Become familiar with various financial aid and academic programs and be able to present information about these programs to the public both on and off campus and in a virtual format. Is comfortable and well versed in speaking to large groups and presenting complex information to a diverse audience regarding all steps of the student life cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have knowledge and intimate understanding of Federal and State VA regulations. Must be proficient in PC database management and applications. Must show ability to be responsible for oversight of operations yielding disbursement of VA awards. Well-developed oral and written communication skills are required. Individual needs to be dependable, well-organized, and a self-starter. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel is essential. Prioritize emerging issues, handle concurrent objectives and meet deadlines. Ability to work without close supervision and to set ones own priorities and work schedule. Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community. Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel. Ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures. Ability to provide supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concerns. Excellent time management skills required.
