Job description

The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center is seeking a School Based Health Center Attending Physician/Adolescent Medicine Faculty. This role involves providing and overseeing medical services and coordinating day-to-day operations in school-based health facilities, ensuring high-quality, comprehensive, integrated, and confidential care for young people at no cost. The physician will also contribute to adolescent medicine faculty activities, including teaching and research, within a youth-centric and collaborative culture.

  • Care and treatment of patients as delineated in the plan of supervision for Nurse Practitioners

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care consistent with established goals and evidence-based standards, including history taking, physical exams, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Formulate goal-directed plans encompassing health maintenance, anticipatory guidance, and appropriate medical, mental health, and health-education interventions
  • Ensure timely and accurate charting and coding of all patient encounters in accordance with billing compliance guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing peer review and quality improvement activities, and implement changes to existing medical protocols
  • Respond to health emergencies in the school building and assist in mental health emergencies
  • Participate in school liaison activities, including meetings with principals, parent associations, and school administrators
  • Track and maintain inventory of medications and vaccines, including ordering and managing expired items
  • Serve as Adolescent Medicine inpatient consult service attending up to 3 weeks annually and as a clinic preceptor to medical students, residents, and fellows

Compensation

  • Compensation range from $170K to $190K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
  • The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits

Shift & Schedule

  • Work at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center when school is not in session
  • Work at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center on selected Saturdays

Requirements

  • MD Degree with Board Eligible/Certification in Pediatrics or Family Medicine or Adolescent Medicine
  • Commitment to MSAHC's vision, mission, and approach to ensure a patient-centric, collaborative, and multidisciplinary culture
  • Passion for working with young people and a work ethic prioritizing understanding and solving patient needs
  • Commitment to, and experience in building systems of care for vulnerable populations, particularly adolescents and young adults
  • NYS license
