Assistant Controller โ€“ Manufacturing

Location: Central Ohio
Industry: Automotive / Manufacturing

Position Summary

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee key accounting and financial control activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Operations and Finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, effective cash management, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting processes, financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.

  • Manage cash flow activities, including accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and disbursements.

  • Support budgeting, business planning, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency.

  • Partner with Operations, Finance, and IT leadership on financial systems, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with applicable manufacturing and quality standards.

  • Provide financial insight and support to operational leaders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial records and ensure administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and on schedule.

  • Participate in employee performance management and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA/CMA/CGA) preferred.

  • 5+ years of post-qualification accounting experience within a manufacturing environment required.

  • Automotive or auto-parts manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft Office and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
