Job description

Vocational Program Specialist

 

Summary:

The Vocational Specialist will support CooperRiis Residents, especially in our transitional residential program, in preparing for, obtaining, and sustaining meaningful employment, volunteer or educational opportunities. The VC will work primarily in tandem with our clinical teams and is a therapeutic and ideally, clinical role.


Location: Asheville, NC with some travel to Mill Spring, NC Campus


Schedule:

  • 32 to 40 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday schedule 8-5 pm

Salary:

  • Clinically Licensed Associate: $58,000 starting and increases based on experience
  • Clinically Licensed Fully licensed: $60,000 starting and increases based on experience
  • Non-Licensed: $49,920 starting and increases based on experience


Essential Functions

  • Meets at regular intervals with transitional program residents and residents from other campuses who are seeking structured time opportunities
  • Holds sessions focused on values and interests, resume writing, job coach, etc.
  • Periodic check-ins for residents on the maintenance phase of the structured time
  • In-depth knowledge of the resident’s recovery plans and how the structured time supports those plans
  • Provides supported employment with residents if needed
  • Acts as a liaison between the programs to support transitions of residents between campuses 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Asheville/Buncombe County businesses, organizations, and learning institutions
  • Is a member of every residents’ Recovery Team and will provide consistent communication among clinical and non-clinical team members


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a concentration and/or commensurate experience in Career or Rehabilitation Counseling or
  • Clinically licensed therapist with experience in Career or Rehabilitation Counseling, LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT preferred and not required
  • Preferred Vocational Counseling certification 
  • Thorough knowledge of the Asheville area and opportunities for structured time opportunities
