Job description

Job Description:
Join the Head Start teaching team in a teacher assistant type position in facilitating many classroom activities such as field trips, lesson planning, and classroom maintenance. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of the Head Start classroom and start a career track to becoming a Head Start Teacher. This position may also assist in the kitchen or other areas of operation.
As a minimum requirement, the applicant must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and must meet the following:
a. Completion of six postsecondary semesters or equivalent quarter units in early
childhood education or child development, or
b. Completion of at least two postsecondary semester units or equivalent quarter units
in early childhood education or child development each semester or quarter following
initial employment, and
c. Continuation in the educational program each semester or quarter until six units have
been completed.be enrolled in ECE (or 6 credits in ECE).

Some states may require additional requirements for kitchen aide duties (i.e., Safe Serve).
Must complete all trainings required by child care licensing, including but not limited to
the following:
a. Ongoing Training: Staff must participate in annual training on child safety, mandated
reporting, and emergency procedures (Title 22, ยง101216.2).
b. Mandated Reporting: All employees are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse
or neglect (Title 22, ยง101212(d))
