Job description

Primary Purpose
Assist librarian in providing leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the library is an integral part of the instructional program of the school. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
High school diploma or GED
Educational Aide Certification (Aide I)
15 college hours or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Familiar with the operation of a library
Knowledge of the Dewey decimal system preferred
Proficient in working with media computer technologies
Ability to work well with children and adults
Knowledge of general office equipment and computers
Willingness to learn and use the library automation system for collection access, circulation, inventory, reports, etc.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of office/library work
Some verifiable experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Perform needed clerical duties assigned by the librarian.
  2. Assist teachers and students in locating materials and books for assignments and research on the computer and shelves.
  3. Assist students and staff with information retrieval, computer card catalog, CD-ROM products, copier, locating printed material, and reference library.
  4. Aide in supervision and discipline of classes, study halls, and testing.
  5. Assist student aides and parent volunteers in their library duties.
  6. Reshelf or store software, books, equipment when it is returned.
  7. Assist staff with production equipment: poster printing, Merlin, style cards, and laminator
  8. Process all new library materials; enter data in computer, mark identification, label, and sort.
  9. Assist the librarian in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
  10. Prepare and send out overdue notices, collect fines, and prepare required reports.
  11. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  12. Assist librarian with displays, cataloging, and book repair.
  13. Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events.

  22. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  23. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  24. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  25. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  26. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  27. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
