JOB DESCRIPTION:
To facilitate and assist in providing a quality program of instruction designed to meet the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of limited English proficient students.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist bilingual teacher in providing quality dual-language instruction for limited English proficient students.
  2. Support and carry out activities related to the bilingual program.
  3. Perform duties involving the supervision of students.
  4. Communicate with students, teachers, staff, and parents.
  5. Present a positive role model for students.
  6. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  7. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  8. Regular attendance.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous work with children in job-related capacity or volunteer work
  • Experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar agencies or institutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Positive human relations skills
  • Appreciation of and patience with children
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and in English
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Positive work performance regarding promptness, attendance, and productivity
  • Willingness to take initiative
