Job description

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR II
University of Alabama at Birmingham
The Program Coordinator will lead the Division of Hematology and Oncology's event portfolio and community outreach presence, overseeing the planning, development, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive slate of educational, professional, and community-facing activities. In addition, the role will support important Division-specific activities. This role serves as a central liaison across internal stakeholders, community partners, and external organizations while ensuring operational excellence, financial stewardship, and alignment with UAB's mission and values. The position combines event leadership, program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and financial management support to advance the Division's visibility, collaborations, and community impact.
General Responsibilities
  • Administers the logistical support for a University-wide program, which is often of a large and/or complex nature.
  • May participate in developing program plans, objectives and directives.
  • May supervise support staff.
  • Acts as a communication liaison with outside resources.
  • Plans and carries out special projects related to the success of the program.
  • Responsible for adherence to program budget.
  • May provide education and training to UAB community.

  • Skilled in planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple simultaneous initiatives
  • Ability to manage large-scale, high-visibility events and stakeholder expectations
  • Understanding of budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with basic financial analysis
  • Familiarity with CME events, conference planning, or community outreach initiatives

Work Environment Expectations
  • Strong collaboration with physicians, administrators, and external partners
  • Occasional travel and evening/weekend work required for events

Salary Range $18.35-$29.80
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
  • OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
