Job Summary:
Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor within the Online Master of Social Work program. The MSW program prepares students to be future leaders in the field that have a positive impact on social and economic justice, human rights and quality of life for diverse populations. The online MSW curriculum combines didactic and competency-based learning delivered in an asynchronous format. FDU MSW's advanced generalist specialization provides the theoretical and practical base necessary for social workers to work effectively across systems with populations navigating complex challenges. The program promotes active participation of faculty, staff and students in practice, service, advocacy, and interprofessional collaboration.
Faculty members are expected to support the MSW program vision through teaching in the professional MSW curriculum online, developing a research agenda within their discipline and providing service to the department, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and University at large. Thisposition will report to the Program Director of the Social Work program and will be eligible for tenure. This position requires the ability to have an in-person presence on campus, as needed by the department.
Required Qualifications:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1.Responsible for the delivery of multiple online courses each semester
2.Prepare the syllabi and learning objectives for all courses
3..Contribute to course development and revisions (as needed)
4Provide advisement to students entering and progressing through the MSW program
5.Hold regular virtual "student consultation hours"
6.Prepare and/or review student performance and progress
7.Attend and participate in MSW program/committee meetings, program activities, and campus events (when applicable)
8..Contribute to ongoing CSWE accreditation (as needed)
9.Provide service to university and/or community
10.Demonstrate active involvement in research/scholarship
11.Attend professional conferences representing the MSW Program and the University
MINIMUM/PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited institution
2. PhD in Social Work, DSW or doctorate in related field; ABD applicants may be considered for this faculty position, given the degree's completion will be within 12 months of the first semester of employment
3. Preference will be given to applicants with two or more years post MSW practice experience
4. Experience teaching within higher education at the faculty rank of assistant professor or higher preferred; preference given to those able to teach across the curriculum
5. Licensed as a Master's level social worker preferred
6. Preference given to those with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service
7. Interpersonal skills to build and manage partnerships with diverse populations inside and outside the program of social work, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and the University at large
8. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty and university administration
9. Familiarity with teaching and delivering content using online modalities
10. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card
