Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing compelling, accurate, and strategic written content that communicates the university's mission, achievements, and initiatives to internal and external audiences. The Content Writer plays a key role in shaping Georgia Southwestern State University's brand, supporting marketing and fundraising efforts, and enhancing the institution's overall visibility and reputation.
Responsibilities
Content Development and Writing (90%)
  • Research, write, and edit a wide range of content, including:
  • Press releases, feature stories, and news articles
  • Marketing and fundraising materials (digital and print)
  • Event promotion content, magazine, and newsletters
  • Website copy and social media content in collaboration with digital team

General Support (10%)
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Serve on university committees and contribute to departmental initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the field required (Communications, marketing, journalism, English, etc.).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in writing, editing, or content development
  • Experience in higher education communications or a university setting desired, but not required.
