Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Planner/Scheduler for our new location in Clinton, IL. The Scheduler/Planner optimizes shop floor production by creating detailed schedules, managing material requirements, and coordinating resources to meet deadlines. You'll be required to analyze drawings, estimate labor hours, and monitor workflows for welding and machining operations, ensuring seamless communication between sales, engineering, and production teams to maximize efficiency.
Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today's transmission industry standards and specifications.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules (master schedule) to align with customer delivery dates
  • Analyze technical data, including drawings and specs, to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and minimize downtime
  • Estimate and manage labor hours, tools, and material requirements to ensure personnel and equipment are available
  • Collaborate with purchasing to ensure raw materials arrive on time, maintaining inventory levels for uninterrupted production
  • Monitor performance data against the plan, preparing reports to track progress and identify bottlenecks
  • Adjust schedules to handle unexpected delays, shortages, or rush customer orders

What You'll Need:
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of experience in scheduling, planning, or a similar role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Proven experience in metal fabrication, welding, and machining processes
  • Strong skills in ERP/MRP systems, CMMS, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Excel)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders of varying levels
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously
