JOB SUMMARY

Successful Swim Instructors will know how to teach swimmers of various ages and skill levels effectively while ensuring safety in and around the water.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Promotes, acts and works in a manner consistent with the values of LGM.
  • Develops effective swimming lessons based on student skill level
  • Instructs individuals or small groups of students in the water
  • Demonstrates various swimming techniques
  • Observes students performing the strokes and provides feedback to help them improve
  • Provides constant supervision to keep all swimmers safe
  • Completes documentation and deciding when to move students to the next level
  • Enforces water safety and pool rules
  • Shares feedback with parents on the sessions
  • Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the club and the Company by being service- and solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all club staff and members/guests, and meeting established quality, service and safety expectations
  • Performs additional assignments per the direction of club or Company managers
  • Regular and punctual attendance on site for all scheduled shifts is required.


Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Understands safety rules and precautions related to swimming pool operations.
  2. Adept at techniques utilized in the American Red Cross or YMCA lifesaving certification, CPR and basic first aid while maintaining a calm demeanor.
  3. Ability to perform job duties efficiently while managing frequent interruptions and/or dealing with stressful or potentially hazardous situations.
  4. Excellent customer service skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIANCE

  1. Current American Red Cross or YMCA Basic Lifesaving or equivalent certification, CPR and First Aid Certifications. Certifications should be current and up to date at all times.
  2. Previous experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Seeing and hearing: read documents, computer screen, answer phones, communicate in person 50-100%
  • Standing and walking 25-50%
  • Climbing, stooping, squatting and kneeling 0-24%
  • Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, writing and driving 50-100%
  • Lift in excess of 50 pounds 0-24%
