Job description

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I that will be responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs 

  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data 

  • Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals 

  • Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics 

  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards 

  • Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis 

  • Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers 

  • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent;  

OR 

  • High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field 

  • Minimum of four years of construction safety experience 

  • Current valid driver’s license 

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs 

  • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively 

  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $89,500 MIN - $120,800 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
