Position Overview
CUMULUS MEDIA | Westwood One has an immediate opening for a full-time Director, Sports Sales to support the Sports Sales Team. This role is an integral part of the Westwood One Sports vertical, focusing on monetization of premium audio content as well as maximizing revenue opportunities by developing new business and partnerships with national advertisers. The ideal candidate will create demand in a complex media environment, leveraging Westwood One's marquee assets such as the NFL, NCAA, Masters, US Soccer and Infinity Sports Network and integrate Westwood One Sports solutions in innovative ways to meet the marketing needs of new clients and will be responsible for collaboratively working with Westwood One's VP, Sports Sales, and Westwood One's President, Sales
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
  • Resident expert in all Sports products offered by Cumulus including NFL, NCAA, Masters, US Soccer, Westwood One Sports Talk, and Sports focused Podcasts
  • Create advertising demand for our products
  • Prospect and qualify advertising leads
  • Meet with prospects to learn key insights to develop sales programs most likely to close
  • Expert knowledge of the Sports marketplace and Sponsorship landscape
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to develop and execute Sports Sales packages and solutions
  • Measure, grow and exceed Sports sales and market share goals
  • Assist in the preparation, creation and execution of compelling presentations to clients
  • Strategize on and execute multi-faceted advertising campaigns for our clients
  • Analyze and provide necessary sales reports, market analysis and identify growth opportunities for Sports assets

Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of related Sports or media sales experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radio and Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, or closely related field
  • Willingness to travel to meet in person with our customers and prospects
  • Demonstrate knowledge of selling Sports advertising solutions including; Live Play by Play, Live Sports Talk, Sports Podcasts, and how they work in tandem with radio assets or other traditional media
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Highly organized with ability to support multiple workstreams at the same time
  • Skilled in oral/written communications with the ability to articulate ideas and guidance concisely and professionally.
  • Comfortable presenting to a diversified array of prospects/clients

Pay Range
USD $142,323.00 - USD $177,754.00 /Yr.
