This posting is for the 2026-2027 School Year.

Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) empower our students for lifelong success by building strong character, promoting academic excellence, and generating public service throughout Washington, D.C. District staff are teachers, mentors, and leaders, and they play an essential role in ensuring our students maximize their potential. Our network serves over 1,400 students annually across our six campuses in the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals.

As an Elementary Math/Science Teacher, you will ignite curiosity, foster critical thinking, and help students develop problem-solving skills through hands-on learning experiences. Integrating STEM principles and differentiated instruction will cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment where students thrive academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning & Delivery:

  • Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction

  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum (Eureka Math & PhD Science), content, and pedagogy

  • Set instructional outcomes

  • Design student assessments

Classroom Management & Environment

  • Create an environment of respect and rapport.

  • Establish a culture of learning.

  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior.

  • Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students.

  • Engage students in learning with quality questioning and discussion techniques.

Professional Growth & Development

  • Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLCs, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions.

  • Reflect on instructional practices by incorporating feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness

  • Attend occasional school events outside of regular hours.

  • Engage families by building positive relationships to support the studestudent'semic and personal goals.

  • Compliance and Professional Expectations:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records

  • Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

  • Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable subject area, as appropriate

  • Passing Praxis scores

  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)

  • Strong ability to use data-driven instruction with demonstrated evidence of student growth.

  • Familiarity with Common Core Shifts in Mathematics and Eureka Math Curriculum (preferred)

  • Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth

  • References that reflect a high standing with a past employer

  • Able to lift to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours

  • Must be able to show proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19
