Job description

Position Title: Girls' Volleyball Assistant Coach

Location: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART - High School

Compensation: $2,000-$3,000

The total compensation will be paid in equal monthly installments during the duration of the coaching role. This is a temporary, part-time position and is not benefits-eligible.

We are Rocky Mountain Prep, a movement comprised of incredible educators, families, scholars, and advocates who are changing the face of public education in Colorado by democratizing college access and preparation for historically marginalized students and families. On paper, we are a network of twelve college preparatory charter schools in the Denver metro area serving students as young as twelve weeks through twelfth grade.

But we are so much more than this.

Season: Regular Season is August 1 - November 1, 2026

If the team makes the postseason, the season will go into November.

Job Summary: The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in implementing philosophy and procedures for the program.

Reports to Head Coach and Athletic Director

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Accept and implement co-curricular philosophy of the school.
  • Follow program norms, policy, and expectations for players and families.
  • Direct assigned lower level teams within the program in accordance with program philosophy.
  • Attend and assist during preseason parent meetings.
  • Follows the rules and regulations of the school and league of participation.
  • Attends mandatory preseason rules meetings.
  • Time sensitive communication with the Athletic Department as needed.
  • Utilize provided development opportunities provided by the Athletic Department.
  • Support with scheduled team sessions.
  • Supervise and be responsible for the inventory associated with your program (i.e. equipment, jerseys, etc.)
  • Maintains appropriate supervision of the program at all times including, but not limited to, locker rooms, practices, events, and bus rides.
  • Assures that the squad reflects proper conduct and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Represent the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct.
  • Any ad hoc duties determined by the Head Coach or Athletic Director based on program needs.

RMP Requirements

  • Experience preferred, demonstrable understanding of the sport, seeking to coach.
  • Teamwork and teambuilding skills
  • Communication skills, unwavering commitment to growing personally and professionally as an anti-racist and anti-oppressive organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Speaks Spanish
  • Demonstrated success working with students from historically marginalized communities
