ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:ย The QA/QC Inspector performs and assists in the physical and metallurgical tests on start-up and in-process production parts in a metal fastener facility. Perform tasks associated with the verification and validation of part quality.ย ย 
  • Performs preparation techniques of Metallurgical mounts such as grinding, cutting, polishing, etching products.ย ย 
  • Operate and interpret findings from Micro-Hardness testing equipment on prepared mounts.ย ย 
  • Performs Start-up and in-process testsย on production parts.ย Have the ability to stop production if parts do not pass.ย ย 
  • Reads and understands print drawings and specifications for correct test requirements, procedures, and sampling plans.ย 
  • Verify calibration on all equipment within the lab and from the factory floor prior to use.ย 
  • Reports any safety violations, test equipment misuse and/or improper work to the Supervisor.ย 
  • Verifies and ensures that all jobs and materials have accurate information on the Manufacturing Order Route Packet prior to release to the production floor.ย ย 
  • Receive and document sample parts into the Quality Lab tracking system.ย ย 
  • Review the lab test results to ensure all operations have been properly performed and recorded.ย ย 
  • Conducts lab sampling as needed.ย ย 
  • Issue and track production gages to the manufacturing floor.ย ย 
  • Proper handling and use of low-level acids as part of the metal etching process.ย ย 
  • Attendย the Material Review Board meetingsย when required.ย 
  • Sort parts in the lab if required.ย 
  • Supports and maintains waste elimination initiatives at the facility.ย ย 
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve by taking advantage of available training.ย ย 
  • Attend all Company and department meetings are requiredย 
  • Inspects fasteners for conformance to specifications by performing a variety of testing.ย ย 
  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.ย ย 
  • Completes final inspection reports for each lot of parts.ย ย 
  • Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, or obvious plating defects.ย ย 
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.ย ย 
  • Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.ย ย ย 
  • Verifies that all required operations are complete and correct; ensure that lot integrity is maintained.ย ย 
  • Operates comparator as required to inspect parts for dimensional requirements.ย ย 
  • Completes final inspection reports for each lot of parts.ย ย 
  • Ensures compliance with all company safety rules and procedures.ย ย 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.ย 
  • Prefer minimum of 1-2 years of Metallurgical or physical laboratory experience.ย 
  • Understanding of test equipment and procedures to include various hand gaging equipment and desk top test equipment.ย ย 
  • Basic Microsoft Office understanding and usage.ย 
  • Ability and wiliness to learn new techniques and procedures.ย ย 

Compensation Information:

$21.00 - $22.40 / hour
