Intermediate Water Resources/River Engineer

ADay in theLife

As an Intermediate Water Resource/ River Engineer, in our Guelph, London or Oakville office, you'll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $34.00 to $58.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role,you'llbe comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering analysis and design for river engineering and natural systems restoration projects, for both private and public clients.

  • Lead engineering analysis and design for urban drainage and surface water management projects, for both private and public clients.

  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of riverine, valley-land, wetland, and shoreline restoration works, including design of greeninfrastructure, bank/bed stabilization, channel realignment, shoreline stabilization, and erosion and sediment control measures.

  • Conduct specialized hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including:

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of urban and natural systems (e.g., PCSWMM, etc.).

  • Support river engineering and environmental assessment tasks.

  • Participate in erosion threshold assessments and sediment transport analysis

  • Participate in the preparation of channel restoration concepts

  • Contribute to the development of detailed designs, construction cost estimates and tender specifications.

  • Provide resident engineering and contract administration support for construction projects.

  • Successfully manage project budgets, invoicing, scheduling, change management, and client management.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including hydrogeological, geotechnical,geomorphic, survey,landscape design, transportation,structuraland naturalsciencesdisciplines.

  • Direct and supportfield data collection exercisesas well asdata synthesis/analysis;including site reconnaissance,and topographic surveying.

  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members.

  • Prepare technical reports, technical memoranda, and work plans.

  • Support business development initiatives including preparing proposals and building strong client relationships.

  • Work with regulatory agencies to obtain approvals.

  • Willing to travel within Ontario, Canada and North America to support projects.

  • 5+ years of experience in water resources and river engineering, specifically related to the assessment of natural systems and the design, construction, and project management of river restoration projects

  • Professional Engineer designation with PEO is required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Water Resources/Environmental Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience in writing technical reports and proposals, and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups

  • Ability to effectively contribute to projects of various sizes and complexity simultaneously

  • Knowledge of current regulations, legislation and permitting

  • Experience with design and drafting software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD would be an asset

  • Experience with variouswater resources modeling software (i.e.,HEC-RAS,HEC-HMS, SWAT, HSP-F, EFDC) would be considered an asset

  • Experiencewithpreparing detailed designs, construction cost estimates, technical specifications,andtender/procurementpackages

  • Experience with design and drafting software such as ArcGIS,Global Mapper, Q-GIS,AutoCAD,and Civil3Dwould be an asset

  • A valid Class G driver's license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
