Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our growing Traffic team in Savannah, GA. This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer with a strong background in traffic analysis, modeling, and design with direct experience supporting GDOT programs. You'll work with public and private clients on high-impact projects ranging from intersection and corridor studies to complex traffic operations and federally funded studies across the Southeast.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Serve as Task Lead on traffic studies and safety projects, overseeing schedules, deliverables, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee and support development of traffic operations analyses, corridor studies, design traffic forecasting, and statewide safety programs.
  • Apply advanced modeling and simulation using tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA, and VISSIM to analyze traffic operations and improve system performance.
  • Develop recommendations for traffic operational improvements, including intersection control evaluations (ICE), signal warrants, access management, and congestion mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare traffic design plans, including traffic signals, signing, and pavement marking.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate traffic operations with broader transportation planning, safety, and multimodal design goals.
  • Mentor junior staff in traffic operations, modeling, and safety analysis, fostering technical growth and collaborative delivery.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven technical reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Support project delivery across multiple assignments as needed.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 8+ years of experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months of joining
  • Experience with Synchro, Sidra, HCS, and VISSIM
  • Experience with MicroStation, GEOPAK, and GuideSIGN
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with ownership of deliverables
  • Solid understanding of QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and business practices

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
  • Familiar with GDOT processes and procedures
  • Experience of large-scale Design-Build and Public Private Partnership projects, including Alternative Technical Concept (ATC) development, is highly preferred.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  • Active participation in professional engineering societies/organizations.

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
