Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule and regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort, complies with local traffic regulations. Performs a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain the motor vehicle fleet. Performs other duties when not driving, such as washing, cleaning and lubricating vehicles, loading and unloading automotive parts and supplies. The driver should assist disabled passengers into and out of the vehicle, secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip; may operate a radio or similar device to communicate with dispatcher or other vehicles to report disruption of service.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with leads and dispatch to schedule and replace minor assemblies and components.
  • Check oil and washer fluid, wiper blades, power steering, etc.
  • Verifies operational safety of equipment and devices such as brakes, clutch, lights, mirrors, glass, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, highway warning kits, horn, warning lights and buzzers, emergency exits, wipers, signs, tires, etc.
  • Assists passengers during their trip.
  • May fill antifreeze, service cooling systems, inspect hoses, caps, valves, etc., as required.
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment required to perform the assigned duties.
  • Abide by FMCSA passenger transportation regulations as well as any other local, state or federal laws.
  • Daily fill out e-logs
  • Responsible for key storage for primary and spare keys
  • Daily inspection of fleet, ensure proper preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on vehicles are being performed as well as making sure unit has insurance and required documents.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager and company policies.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of job-related experience (Driving school buses, 18 wheelers)

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Medical Card

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium - Exerting 20-60 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
