About this Job The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) performs functions of the state relative to the examination and licensing of operators of motor vehicles, the suspension and revocation of such licenses, issuance of vehicle title and registration certificates, license plates for all motor vehicles operated upon the highways of the state, recordation of liens against vehicles, and the collection of sales/use tax and other appropriate fees, all in accordance with applicable laws. This position for a Motor Vehicle Compliance Analyst 1-3 serves the Office of Motor Vehicles located in Lake Charles.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: May be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: -Interviews customers for driver's licenses, identification cards, vehicle titles and registration and/or reinstatement; assesses the physical and mental condition of applicants.

-Administers and grades vision, oral and/or written tests to applicants for driver's licenses. -Inspects vehicles for safe operation; evaluates the driving ability of applicants by administering a thorough road skills test designed to test the applicants driving skills. -Collects and balances required fees with no discrepancies.

-Determines and issues proper license plates and/or renewal stickers. -Informs customers by written and/or verbal communication regarding requirements and procedures for driver's licenses, identification cards, vehicle titles and registrations and reinstatement. -Physically lifts and counts boxes, each weighing approximately 25 pounds, of license plates and other forms/paper used for driver's license and motor vehicle transactions.

-Analyzes motor vehicle documents to ensure compliance with Louisiana and federal law. -Works in conjunction with insurance companies, insurance agencies, the Commissioner of Insurance offices as well as courts, other law enforcement agencies, public officials, attorneys, other state agencies, etc. -Maintains confidentiality regarding all driving/registering records maintained by the department.

-Other activities include completing end of day reports, answering public phone inquiries; and, assisting management with other tasks. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment Career Progression: This position may be filled as a MOTOR VEHICLE COMPLIANCE ANALYST 1, 2, or 3, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour.
