Description

The 1st Assistant Golf Professional/Tournament Director plays a key leadership role in daily golf operations, member engagement, instruction, merchandising, tournament administration including HMHA and HWGA Leagues and associate development. The ideal candidate embraces The Highlands culture of excellence, builds authentic relationships with members, and demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement: To be successful in this position the following competencies are helpful: Strategic Thinker, Fostering Teamwork, Results Oriented, Developing Others, Confident, Ethical, Positive Communicator. 

 Tournament Operations. Work with men's and women's golf organizations. Golf Genius experience a plus.


Assists Head Golf Professional as Supervisor of the Golf Department marketing the total Highland's facilities and the club, along with overseeing the inside golf staff.


Interprets and enforces the policies, rules and regulations of the Head Golf Professional and the Highland's Homeowner's Association ("Association").


Responsible for daily cash receipts and account for safekeeping according to established written policies and procedures. Certify and categorize all golf department invoices for payment.


Promote various functions that are withing the club regulations and policies to general operation revenues and create customer interest.


Strive to operate the facility according to established fiscal parameters. Assist in budgetary development and related matters as required.


Ensure that guests adhere to club policies and procedures.


Create an increased interest in golf, which includes all age groups.  


Coordinate with the golf shop, outside service, maintenance, and food and beverage so all appropriate employees are aware of upcoming events.


Professionally open and close the golf shop.


Provide the highest possible service to all guests.


Greet and assist guests as they arrive in the golf shop. Inform all players of any special rules and playing conditions. Assist guests in the shop with merchandise, check-in procedures, answer telephone promptly and professionally, book tee time reservations, and assist in establishing our "customer friendly" atmosphere.


Control the start of play. Keep starting times on schedule and check all players in at the counter. Assist in course marshaling as needed.


Assist the Head Professional in the monthly inventory reconciliation and continually familiarize self with current inventory levels and department budgets.


Attend meeting as appropriate.


Adhere to all Highlands policies and procedures.



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees

  • Ability to retain up-to-date customer relationship management tactics and strategies
  • Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Sports Academy, Tee it Forward and others
  • Ability to maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovation.

Qualifications

  • Class A or actively pursuing PGA membership
  • Golf Genius experience preferred
  • 3 year's-experience preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
  • Fundamental supervisory practices and principals experience
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Service and customer focused attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applications (e.g., email, internet, POS)
