Position Summary
The UNM-Valencia Campus Upward BoundProgram is taking applications for Teacher, Pre-College Programs (multiple positions). This is agrant-funded, on-call position. This position oversees certain day-to-day aspects of the UpwardBound Program including but not limited to tutoring, leading workshops,teaching, and executing college preparation/academic lessons for high schoolstudents. Position locations and areas of instruction are:

• Los Lunas High School, Mathematics
• Belen High School, Language Arts
• Valencia High School, Mathematics and Language Arts

This person will assist with tutoring andinstructing during the Academic Year. This position provides support inlanguage arts or other pre-college disciplines at area high schools and atUNM-Valencia Campus; Practices various pedagogical practices to enhance studentacademic progress as well as gain the skills necessary to transition from highschool to higher education; Supports and engages students in collegepreparatory topics; Documents student progress, attendance, and other studenttracking tasks.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in ruralValencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-yearbranch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a communitycollege in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academictransfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, andDual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. Conditions of Employment

• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Elementary or secondary level teaching certification may be a requirement for specified positions in this classification.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years directly related experience
• Experience working with at-risk first-gen students
• Experience in curriculum planning and implementation of a program
• Ability to tutor in Algebra and Geometry

Additional Requirements
Possess a valid driver's license or have reliable transportation to assigned work locations.
