Job description

Job Summary:

  • Assist with food preparation, including washing, cutting, and assembling ingredients.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, pots, and pans.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, equipment, dining areas, and food preparation surfaces.
  • Stock food, beverages, and supplies and assist with inventory rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
  • Receive and store deliveries following food safety procedures.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain a positive, courteous, and professional attitude with students, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist with special school events and catering as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or School Nutrition Director.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Covers for the Cook/Manager as needed.
  • Ability to:    (a) judge food; quantities and qualities, and (b) keep accurate records and make timely reports.
  • Usage of email, google drive, and Microsoft Office apps
  • Assisting in monthly inventory reporting
  • Assisting in ordering of food and paper supplies
  • Utilizing School Cafe POS
  • Finalizing POS  "End of Day" reports and completing deposits
  • Attends trainings
  • Conforms to Board policies and administrative regulations.

    Qualifications:

  • ServSafe Manager's Certification preferred, other State approved sanitation and food handling certification preferred, or must be certified within 2 months from date of hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Kitchen experienced preferred
  • Experience working in Child Nutrition preferred
  • Ability to use email, google drive, and Microsoft Office apps preferred

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, and perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Physical stamina necessary for the efficient performance of duties.
