TMRW Sports is seeking a strategic, creative, and media-savvy Sr. Director, Communications - Flag Football to lead communications strategy for its professional Flag Football league. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing - Flag Football, this role will be responsible for building and executing an integrated communications function from the ground up, helping establish the league's voice, elevate its profile, and drive awareness among fans, media, partners, athletes, and stakeholders.


This leader will develop compelling narratives that bring the league's vision, athletes, teams, competition, and innovations to life while supporting league launches, key announcements, tentpole events, and ongoing business priorities. The Sr. Director will oversee media relations, executive visibility, storytelling, issues management, and strategic communications efforts that strengthen the league's reputation and accelerate fan and commercial growth. This role requires a builder mentality, strong sports media relationships, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the communications strategy for the professional Flag Football league, aligned with business objectives, marketing priorities, and brand positioning
  • Build and evolve the league's storytelling platform, developing compelling narratives across competition, athletes, teams, partners, innovation, and fan engagement
  • Lead day-to-day media relations efforts, cultivating strong relationships with sports, business, entertainment, and lifestyle media
  • Drive earned media opportunities that increase awareness, credibility, and fan interest in the league
  • Lead game day communications and media relations, directing national and local/in-market media engagement, press operations, stakeholder coordination, and real-time messaging to maximize league visibility and protect brand reputation
  • Partner closely with internal teams including Marketing, Partnerships, Football Operations, Content, Social and others to ensure integrated messaging and execution
  • Support executive communications, thought leadership, speaking opportunities, interviews, and media training for league leadership
  • Serve as the communications lead for league launches, schedules, player announcements, events, milestones, and key business initiatives
  • Develop and manage communications plans for sponsors, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders
  • Lead crisis communications planning and issues management efforts in partnership with league and corporate leadership
  • Manage external PR agencies, contractors, partners and communications budgets
  • Build scalable communications processes, reporting, and operating rhythms as the league grows
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and emerging opportunities to strengthen league visibility and reputation

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in public relations, communications, sports marketing, media relations, or related fields
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategic communications programs that drive visibility and business results
  • Strong network of media relationships across sports, business, and entertainment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and storytelling skills
  • Experience supporting executive communications and high-profile stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success managing media events, launches, announcements, and major communications initiatives
  • Experience navigating sensitive issues and crisis communications situations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience managing agencies, consultants, and external partners
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Ability to travel to host market for all Flag Football games

Preferred:

  • Experience launching new brands, leagues, teams, properties, or consumer-facing products
  • Experience in sports, media, entertainment, or a high-growth startup environment
  • Familiarity with professional football and the evolving flag football landscape
  • Experience building communications functions, processes, and playbooks from the ground up
  • Experience supporting athlete, team, league, or sponsorship communications
