Job description

Overview:

Assists with identifying and assessing flood related risks for various Bank products based on the pertinent regulatory requirements impacting the product. Resolves related issues resulting from this risk assessment. Assists in developing and implementing various flood related operational initiatives for the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitor business unit performance and adherence to Regulatory requirements with respect to loan closings and portfolio maintenance. 
  • Review approved credit requests for products from different businesses, including Commercial, Business Banking and Private Banking, to determine if regulatory requirements are applicable, specific to Regulation H (flood).
  • Assist with the implementation of process improvements to support the timely and efficient review of pending loans in the pipeline.
  • Assist in documenting key business unit processes. Identify and assess efficiencies, risks, and internal controls associated with these key processes.
  • Assist in planning, executing and reporting related to credit facilities reviewed and approved for flood insurance purposes.
  • Assist with researching and assessing flood insurance related regulatory requirements impacting Commercial, Business Banking and Private Banking. Escalate any regulatory changes with the Flood team to compile and communciate change to the business. 
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for review and approval of all non-consumer loans in the pipeline from a flood insurance perspective for Commercial, Business Banking and Private Banking. 

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 4 years' higher education and/or work experience

Strong presentation skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Legal or Insurance background

Underwriting experience
