Robertson & Company

Toronto, ON • On-site

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision

Re-posted 5 days ago

Job description

Robertson & Company is a global recruitment firm specializing in Finance & Accounting, Core Banking, and Technology recruitment within financial services. We partner exclusively with banks, financial institutions, and capital markets firms to deliver consultative, high-impact staffing solutions across permanent, contract, and project-based hiring.

For over 25 years, Robertson has built long-standing relationships across the banking sector by combining deep market expertise with a relationship-driven, consultative approach. Our hybrid recruitment model enables our teams to focus on strategic client engagement, new business growth, and delivering measurable hiring outcomes for our clients.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development professional focused on new client acquisition within core banking or finance & accounting or technology. This is a pure business development role, not account management, suited for someone who enjoys opening doors, building senior stakeholder relationships, and positioning tailored recruitment solutions in complex environments.

You will be responsible for identifying and developing new relationships, introducing Robertson & Company’s recruitment capabilities, and partnering internally to convert opportunities into long-term client partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Generation & Client Acquisition

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new banking and financial services clients
  • Develop new relationships with hiring managers, business leaders, and HR stakeholders within banks and financial institutions
  • Build and manage a targeted new-business pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, and market mapping

Consultative Staffing Solutions

  • Lead discovery conversations to understand finance, accounting, and technology hiring needs within banking environments
  • Position consultative recruitment solutions across permanent, contract, and retained search.
  • Advise clients on hiring strategy, workforce planning, and market conditions within financial services

Banking & Market Expertise

  • Maintain strong knowledge of core banking or finance & accounting or technology roles within financial services
  • Provide clients with insights on talent availability, compensation trends, and hiring timelines
  • Represent Robertson & Company professionally in client meetings and industry settings

Internal Collaboration

  • Partner closely with recruitment delivery teams to ensure opportunities are executed effectively
  • Clearly communicate client requirements, expectations, and solution scope
  • Support proposal development, pricing discussions, and new client onboarding

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience generating new business and building new client relationships within recruitment or professional services
  • Proven success selling recruitment or staffing solutions into banking or financial services environments
  • Strong understanding of Finance & Accounting recruitment, or technology recruitment within financial services
  • Demonstrated ability to sell consultative staffing solutions, not transactional services.
  • Highly driven, commercially focused, and comfortable operating in a performance-led environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

This role is strictly focused on new business development and client acquisition; it is not an account management position.

Success Metrics

  • New client acquisition within banking and financial services
  • Revenue generation from new business
  • Sales pipeline quality and conversion
  • Strength and depth of newly established banking relationships
