Job description

We're on the lookout for a driven, knowledgeable and self-motivated individual with excellent management and business acumen to join our Montana Lottery team as our agency's Business Development Manager! We need someone eager to join an energetic team that continuously supports each other in the successful management of Lottery goods and services.

What is this career opportunity?

As a key member of the Marketing and Sales management team, this position is responsible for developing and implementing short and long-range marketing and sales plans. The incumbent is tasked with ensuring effective program implementation, management and excellent customer service. This position also leads the management of primary accounts to ensure maximum sales potential, and customer relations. The successful candidate must monitor the market for market changes, analyze products for profitability, gross revenue opportunities, and ensure a prudent business approach to meet the Mission statement of the Lottery. This position must both lead the sales team, and work with all stakeholders to better the agency. Contributions to and collaboration with the Sales and Marketing Department is imperative. This position supervises a team of regional sales representatives dispersed across Montana, as well as inhouse sales and data team members. 
 

What are we looking for?

Minimum Education and Experience: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or closely related field
  • Two or more years of sales or customer service supervisory experience
  • Four or more years of directly related experience
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Competencies: 
Knowledge of: 

  • The concepts and theories of business, marketing, retail and sales strategies, advertising and brand development.
  • Program planning and management, budgeting, customer service standards, contract administration, and trends and issues affecting target industries; and
  • Laws, rules, policies, and procedures affecting Lottery operations and activities.

Ability to:

  • Provide effective leadership, vision, and direction.
  • Be an effective and engaged manager with remote and in-office staff.
  • Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
  • Analyze, interpret, and synthesize complex and dissimilar data related to market research, demographics, sales trends and reports, and other issues.
  • Developing and delivering formal sales presentations.
  • Exercise judgment and discretion to establish and maintain strong working relationships, both inside and outside the organization, with those who are able to supply information, assistance, or support for work related goals.
  • Identify problems, emerging issues and trends, and establish strategies to address them.
